FAME is committed to making sure that the children who participate in fameKids are introduced to healthy eating practices because we believe that healthy bodies can lead to healthier minds. The underlying belief is that hungry children cannot thrive and this is an issue that is paramount in the healthy functioning of a child. A hungry child is a disadvantaged child; therefore he or she cannot grow, develop, and learn like other children. This is further exacerbated when there is a parent with a mental health issue, representing a risk for children in the family.
The 8 week After School Program provides a nourishing, healthy light supper and snacks that are all kid friendly. The program equips children with the right knowledge on healthy eating and life styles.
FAME is a multicultural and diverse service provider; therefore, we are cognizant to dietary restrictions due to food allergies and cultural/religious practices. The 8 week After School Program also provides fun activities that gets kids up and moving; this goes in line with our “healthy bodies, healthy minds” philosophy. Each session is designed to get kids active and healthy while learning about mental illness.
