The Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere (FAME) offers support to families where any mental illness is an issue by providing education, resources and coping strategies.
Since 1989
FAME has been supporting families for nearly twenty years. We were founded in 1989 by a group of families in Etobicoke, Ontario through the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Framework for Support pilot project at the Etobicoke Mental Health Services Agency.

The FAME head office is currently located in Etobicoke. We offer services across the Greater Toronto Area and Peel Region through our offices in Etobicoke, Scarborough, Brampton, and Mississauga.
It’s about the families
We believe families make up the basic social structure of our society. Family members provide ongoing support and connection for many of our life experiences. This is particularly true for persons who are vulnerable or ill.
We understand because we’ve been there.
As an organization brought together by families, we have a thorough understanding of the challenges and emotions experienced in supporting a family member with a mental illness.
Reduce the stress of coping.
FAME helps reduce the stress of coping with mental illness by strengthening and supporting family members in your role as caregivers. We can provide advocacy, education, referrals and counseling to families and caregivers facing the challenges of any mental health issue.
Families have a voice.
FAME works hard to ensure that families have a strong voice within the communities. We are based on a self-help model which respects and supports the expertise that families have regarding their mentally ill relative and their experience in the system.
